International Education
The Title VI and Fulbright-Hays programs at the US Department of Education support development of national capacity for international understanding and foreign language education, including supporting National Research Centers, Area Overseas Research Centers, and related programs.
Current Funding Status
The Presidential budget request proposes $69.4 million for Title VI, a $2.5 million decrease from FY22. The budget request also decreases funding for Fulbright-Hays, with the program receiving $8.8 million, a $1 million cut from FY22.
On April 27th, one hundred members of the House signed a letter requesting the House Labor, HHS, Education and Related Agencies Appropriations subcommittee to provide $161.1 million for international education programs, including $141.1 million for Title VI and $20 million for Fulbright-Hays programs.
