Kenneth Sherrill Best Dissertation Award
The APSA Sexuality and Politics section announces an extended deadline for submissions for the 2024 Kenneth Sherrill Best Dissertation Award. Final nominations are now due on Monday, April 29th. Please submit the work of your colleagues or advisees; self-nominations are also accepted.
The Kenneth Sherrill Best Dissertation Award recognizes the best dissertation on sexuality and politics completed and successfully defended in the previous two calendar years. The award is open to all scholarship that falls under the broad rubric of sexuality and politics, including studies concerning the regulation of sexuality, political responses to the regulation of sexuality, the uses of sexuality as a political construct, the intersections of sexuality with gender, race, and class, or LGBT politics and mobilizations.
The nominated scholar’s name, along with a PDF of their full dissertation, should be sent directly to the committee chair, Dr. Andrew Flores at aflores@american.edu

Cynthia Weber Best Conference Paper Award

Sexuality & Politics: LGBTQ+ Politics Best Book Award
The LGBTQ+ Politics Best Book Award is given annually to a book published in the preceding calendar year that addresses LGBTQ+ politics, broadly defined. The committee welcomes books in any subfield of political science and using any appropriate methodology. Nominations must be received by April 15th of the year the award will be given. Authors should arrange to have a copy of their book sent to each of the three committee members. Books must be received by April 15th, 2024 to be considered. Any questions can be directed to the chair of the Book Award Committee Melissa Michelson at melissa.michelson@menlo.edu.

Sexuality & Politics Lasting Contribution Award
This award is given to recognize a paper, journal article, book, or body of work that has made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of sexuality and politics and the discipline of political science more broadly. To be considered for this award, the work nominated must be at least 10 years old. Any member of the Sexuality & Politics section can put forward a nomination for this award. Nominations should be sent to the chair, Paisley Currah, at PCurrah@brooklyn.cuny.edu. Deadline for nominations: April 15, 2024
